Political reconciliation in Kenya announced Feb. 29 has cleared the way for The Rock to focus its efforts on helping rebuild the lives and businesses of those devastated by violence over the last two months through a newly announced Kenya Comeback Fund.
Two faithful Rock businessmen had their businesses destroyed by the post-election violence which morphed into tribal warfare. The Rock is committed to getting them back on their feet, as well as encouraging and enabling other Rock participants to be a part of rebuilding Kenya by starting small businesses.
“The opportunities to shine the light of Jesus in Kenya may never be greater,” says Mark Noblin, executive director of The Rock, in light of a power-sharing agreement between the incumbent president and challenging party leader in December’s disputed election.
“People have seen the ugliness of godless behavior and the failure of ethno-centric leadership. They will be open and ready to accept Biblical concepts of leadership and discipleship. This is exactly where The Rock fits in,” Noblin says.
“We expect our Rock participants in Kenya, who have organized themselves as Kingdom Builders Development Group (pictured above), to roll up their sleeves and get to work with our full support and backing to rebuild Kenya and expand God’s Kingdom at the same time.”
Donations to the Kenya Comeback Fund will directly support Kenyan small business development by Christians trained by The Rock.
