The Rock is teaming with African Hearts, the organization founded by Rock Scholar Lutaaya Abdul, (see "More Than a Trumpet" under the Scholarship Tab on this site). The Rock already provides secondary school sponsorships to kids in Lutaaya's ministry to former Kampala street kids. These kids have been housed in a space donated by a grandmother in her house, but the conditions are crowded. The boys double up to sleep in a windowless 12 x 12 room in four triple bunk beds. They have no place to study. Their food is meager and they get sick periodically from unsanitary conditions. The Rock plans to assist African Hearts in finding and funding a new facility. African Hearts will help pay the cost through proceeds from performances by the brass band started by Lutaaya, which also entertains with gymnastics (picture).
