Rock Scholarship Student Ken Mollo, who only recently was air evacuated by The Rock from Kenyan violence, was chosen by peers and faculty at Uganda Christian University to lead the Lawyers Christian Fellowship on the Mukono campus.
The organization “seeks to mobilize Christian lawyers to serve the indigent community of Uganda by ensuring that God’s character of justice and mercy is communicated in both words and action.”
Ken is a second-year law student from Kenya who has served previous leadership roles in church youth ministries. “The law fellowship where I was appointed the chairperson embodies the whole faculty of law including both international and national students and from first to fourth year,” Ken said.
“God is truly working in the lives of these young people to raise up a new generation of African leaders strong in the Lord,” said Mark Noblin, The Rock executive director. He noted The Rock recently had to evacuate Ken from Nairobi Kenya by air when post election violence there led to unsafe road travel conditions.
Ken nearly was trapped in his homeland and faced delays in returning from the Christmas break to classes. He had served as an election official in the disputed Kenya presidential race. He said local tallying in which he participated proceeded without problems , but matters got out of hand when the results were submitted to the national election commission.
Rival tribesmen literally were pulling people from buses and cars and hacking them to death with machetes on the roads from Nairobi. The Rock was able to get Ken on a flight to Uganda after he braved the trip to the Nairobi airport.
“Ken has seen firsthand the result of leadership not submitted to the Lord,” Mark said. “We know without a doubt he is making a difference now and the Lord has big plans for his future. We praise God for this fruit of the ministry.”
