Rock Disciples Show Love of Jesus in Kenya Crisis
The spontaneous violence and ongoing tribal strife ignited by the Dec. 27 contested Kenya presidential election has created unexpected opportunities to show the love of Jesus and shine His light in a desparate situation.
As the death toll mounts toward 1,000 people and more than a quarter of a million Kenyans are displaced, Rock disciples are responding and you can help. The eleven men of Kingdom Builders Development Group in Kisumu, an area which is a vortex of the tribal looting and killing, are standing strong together. They are unified even though they have a membership of different tribes which elsewhere have been warring against one another.
Two of the Kingdom Builders' businesses helped by loans from The Rock have been destroyed in the violence and these businessmen with their families are being chased by irrational rival tribesmen through the countryside. The Rock has sent emergency aid to them as they were able to escape only with the clothes on their backs.
The remaining Kingdom Builders are helping distribute food donated through The Rock to widows and orphans of Deliverance Church in Kisumu. The tumult has ground commerce to a halt, creating food shortages and exhorbitant prices for basic needs.
The Rock is encouraging Kenyans through the Kingdom Builders to stand strong for Jesus through encouraging forgiveness and planning for a positive spiritual and economic reconstruction.
